Melrose 16 Aberdeen GSFP 20

This BT Premiership match was played on a fine and sunny, but cold, afternoon. Thirty seconds into the match Melrose were awarded a penalty which Scott Ruthven kicked, a feat which he repeated nine minutes later. Keith Oddie opened the Aberdeen account with a penalty at 17 minutes and, seven minutes later, Aberdeen stretched the Melrose defence with Colin Phillips scoring a try in the Town corner. Oddie and Ruthven then swapped penalties at 28 & 34 minutes to complete the first half scoring.

Eight minutes into the second half Kelly Brown picked up from the base of the scrum and dived over for a try, converted by Ruthven, to return the lead to Melrose. Three minutes after he returned from the "Sin Bin", at 64 minutes, Dan Teague drove over for a try between the posts giving Oddie a straight forward conversion. Despite attempts by both sides there was no further scoring.
