Melrose 3 GHA 9

On the Saturday before Christmas this BT Premiership match was far from Christmas Fare. The weather was dull, wet and cold and the rugby was no better. It was an afternoon when kick and chase prevailed, and, in the first half, of five penalty kicks at goal, two, one on each side, were missed. James Noonan kicked three, at 30, 38 & 40 minutes to give GHA the half time lead.

During the time that Melrose were depleted following a Graham Dodds "yellow card", Scott Ruthven reduced the leeway by kicking a penalty at 57 minutes, but, unfortunately, missed again at 65 minutes. Melrose threw everything into the attack, but the GHA defence held firm.
