Boroughmuir 13 Melrose 23

The first match of the second half of this season's BT Premiership, which was Toby Lynn's last match for the Club before returning home to university in New Zealand, was played in foul conditions to which the visitors adapted much better. A rolling maul in the fifth minute saw Kelly Brown go over for a try converted by Scott Ruthven. There was no further scoring until Ruthven kicked a penalty just before half time.
Half time - Boroughmuir 0 Melrose 10.
Boroughmuir came back with a bang after the interval and a Matt Morrell try converted by Graham Kiddie and a Kiddie penalty levelled the score at 10-10. Ruthven, Kiddie & Ruthven again kicked penalties to keep the scoreboard ticking over. Then, in the 87th minute, James Reilly was adjudged to have impeded Jonathon Rimmer who was following up a kick through, and a penalty try,converted by Ruthven, was awarded.
