A large crowd turned out for this BT Cellnet Cup Round 3 match on a fine afternoon in Thurso. Melrose were too strong for a spirited team from six divisions lower, and in the first half scored nine tries, seven being converted, to a fine drop goal by Caithness stand off Michael Henderson.

Melrose scored a further seven tries in the second half, five being converted. To their credit the home team never gave up and made several try saving tackles.
