Back to: 1st XV Results and Fixture List 2003/4 Melrose 6 Hawick 34
The "Southern Reporter" Border League final was played, after a "Minutes Silence" for Melrose Secretary, Stuart Henderson, on a cool evening on a firm pitch with a breeze blowing down the pitch. Hawick had the early pressure, and, at 2 minutes Gavin Douglas crossed for a try which he, himself, converted, and, at 11 minutes, he kicked a penalty. Scott Ruthven put Melrose on the board with a penalty at 15 minutes, but Hawick countered when Colin Murray fielded a ball on the Melrose 10 metre line and broke through the centre for a try between the posts, converted by Douglas.
