Melrose 27 Ayr 16

The final BT Premiership match to be played on The Greenyards this season was played on a cold afternoon, but on an excellent pitch. At 3 & 5 minutes Scott Wight and Jamie Noonan swapped penalties, and two minutes later Ross Miller picked the ball up at no. 8, passed and looped the threequarters to receive the ball on the wing and crash over for a try in the Policeman's Corner. Noonan kicked another penalty at 15 minutes. After a free kick Graeme Dodds made the break and passed to Karne Kaufana who crossed for a try, converted by Wight.
Half time - Melrose 15 Ayr 6.
Noonan started the second half scoring kicking a penalty at 47 minutes. At 64 minutes, following a drive after a scrum taken for a penalty, Kaufana drove over for his second try, converted by Wight. Five minutes later Geoff Caldwell finished a move, following a Kaufana break, with the "bonus point" try in his opposite corner. Seven minutes from the end Craig Chalmers came off the bench for his 200th (and final) appearance for Melrose. Three minutes from no-side Paul Burke crossed for an Ayr consolation try in the Policeman's Corner with Noonan converting.
Melrose 27 Ayr 16.
