Watsonians 35 Melrose 22

With a run from deep in his own half Geoff Caldwell opened the scoring in this BT Premiership match with a try after 12 minutes. At 20 minutes Andrew Turnbull opened the home team account with a try converted by Carl McWilliam, and then, seven minutes later, McWilliam, himself, scored a try the conversion, this time, by Bernard Hennessey. Hennessey kicked a penalty at 30 minutes and Scott Wight replied with a similar award just on the interval.
Half time - Watsonians 17 Melrose 8.
Four minutes into the second half Alan Nash finished off a move which had started in the Watsonian 22 with a try converted by Hennessey, and, 11 minutes later Nash slotted a drop goal. Centre Jamie Murray crossed for a try at 56 minutes, Wight converting, but, 11 minutes after this Hennessey kicked his second penalty, and three minutes later Stuart McAllister crossed for the Watsonian "bonus point" try. Three minutes from the end Scott Aitken finished a Karne Kaufana break with a try, Wight's conversion completing the scoring.
