Melrose 10 Kelso 17

With, arguably, their worst performance for many a day Melrose kissed goodbye to this year's Border League, passing up penalty kicks at goal and failing to make use of unmarked wingers with the line at their mercy. Robin Carruthers penalty in front of the posts at 15 minutes proved to be the only score of a first half strewn with errors by both teams.
Half time - Melrose 0 Kelso 3.
Three minutes into the second half Wayne Mitchell burrowed over for a try in the corner following a line out, but the Kelso lead was restored at 51 minutes when Darren Townsend pounced on a loose ball for a try converted by Carruthers. Mitchell repeated his earlier effort with ten minutes to go, scoring his second try to level the scores. In the final minute Graham Cowe dived on a loose ball for a try, converted by Carruthers, to give Kelso victory.
Melrose 10 Kelso 17.
