Melrose 20 Biggar 19

On a wet and gloomy afternoon this BT Premiership match was riddled with errors by both teams. After 6 minutes Logan Kirisome juggled a pass, but managed to retain possesion, as he fell over the line, in the Town Corner, for a try converted by Quentin Sanft. Sanft then kicked a penalty three minutes later to increase the Biggar lead. Scott Ruthven reduced the leeway at 19 minutes by kicking a penalty, but Sanft replied in kind two minutes later. Ruthven's second penalty came at 25 minutes.
Half time - Melrose 6 Biggar 13
At 66 minutes Melrose number 13, Jamie Murray, following a line-out, drifted through the centre for a try near the posts, Ruthven's conversion levelling the score. For the next ten minutes it was "nip and tuck" then Sanft kicked two penalties, at 75 & 78 minutes to give Biggar a six point lead. Deep into injury time, again from a line-out, Mark Robertson crashed over by the posts from the ensuing ruck for a try. Ruthven's conversion, the last kick of the match, gave Melrose the single point victory.
The well deserved "Electro - Com" Melrose "Man of the Match" was Charles Robson.
