Almost 30 minutes had passed in this BT Premiership match before there was any scoring. Keith Oddie then kicked two penalties to one by Scott Ruthven. Then, shortly before the break, Mark McLean scored a try converted by Oddie.
Half time - Aberdeen GSFP 13 Melrose 3.
Early in the second half Graeme Dodds scored a try to decrease the Melrose deficit, but this was quickly cancelled when Shane Arnold intercepted a loose pass within the Melrose 22 and scampered over for a try converted by Oddie. Colin Phillips and, in injury time, McLean scored further tries for the home team with Oddie adding one conversion.
