This BT Premiership match was played on a warm, sunny afternoon on an excellent pitch. Two minutes after kick-off Craig Chalmers sparked off a move which ended with Geoff Caldwell crossing for a try. Mike Ker replied with a penalty before converting Dougie Flockhart's try. The half continued with Chalmers crossing for a try which he, himself, converted, and, just on half time Caldwell scored his second try, converted by Chalmers.

The second half was barely started before Jarrod Murphy crossed for a try, converted by Chalmers. Currie fought back with a try by Dan Baikie, converted by Ker who, shortly after, kicked his second penalty. Melrose upped the pace in the last ten minutes with two tries by Alec Clark the second of which was converted by Scott Ruthven.
