Stirling County 28 Melrose 35

Matt de Franck opened the scoring four minutes into this BT Premiership match, charging down a kick on the Stirling 22 and following up to score a try. Scott Wight then kicked four penalties between 13 & 25 minutes to give Melrose a 17 point lead. At 28 minutes Alan Syme put the home team on the scoreboard with a try converted by Brian Archibald. The half finished with Wight's fifth penalty and a try by Alec Clark.

Seventeen minutes into the second half John Verstynen crossed for a try converted by Archibald, and, two minutes later Wight kicked his sixth penalty. Three minutes after that Karne Kaufana scored a try, converted by Wight, to increase the Melrose lead. At 65 minutes Verstynen scored his second try, converted by Archibald, and six minutes later Archibald scored the Stirling "bonus point" try which he, himself, converted, taking Stirling to within seven points of Melrose and thus gaining a "narrow defeat bonus point".
