Melrose 26 Biggar 16

This BT Cup match was played on a fine afternoon for open rugby and was the third meeting of the two teams this season. The first half, which was a dire affair, was only noteable for the injury to Steven Cunningham which necessitated his removal from the field on a stretcher. Both Clubs wish him a speedy recovery. Three minutes after the resumption of play, at 17 minutes, Quintin Sanft kicked a penalty to open the scoring. Honours remained fairly even until, at 35 minutes, Andrew Dunlop secured the touch down from a pushover far out in the left corner.
Half time - Melrose 0 Biggar8.
Melrose came out for the second half firing on all cylinders. From a quick tap penalty 5 metres out flanker Jamie Murray scored a try in the right corner, at 43 minutes, Scott Wight converting. Five minutes later karne Kaufana broke through the Biggar defence to score an unconverted try near the posts, and two minutes after that Murray, backing up as a flanker should, scored his second try in the right corner, Wight converting. Sanft kicked his second penalty at 54 minutes. On 63 minutes Cammie Murray burst through for a try, Wight again converting. Two minutes from the end Gary Walkingshaw touched down in the Policeman's Corner to end the scoring.
