Melrose 34 Boroughmuir 24

This 9 try BT Premiership thriller was played on a cool, but dry, afternoon on a fine playing surface. Three minutes into the match Charlie Keenan slipped the Melrose defence to score a try in the right corner. At 10 minutes, following a fine passing move across the pitch Mark Robertson "dotted down" in the Town Corner with Scott Ruthven converting. Boroughmuir regained the lead at 15 minutes, Olo Brown scoring a try wide in the left corner. Ten minutes later Ruthven kicked a penalty to level the scores following Angus Martyn's "yellow card" offence. At 32 minutes Karne Kaufana broke several attempted tackles to score a try to the left of the posts, Ruthven converting. Two minutes later Dave Whiteford broke up the right wing. His chip ahead was fumbled by the Boroughmuir defence and the backing up Stuart Johnson claimed the try in the Policeman's Corner.

Quarter of an hour into the second half Ewan Mathieson bashed his way over for a try converted by Toby O'Reilly. The Melrose "bonus point" try was scored by Gavin Broomfield after a line-out maul was driven over in the right corner, followed by a difficult conversion by Ruthven. Five minutes later the ball was spun wide to the left after another line-out maul with Kaufana breaking the Boroughmuir defence and passing to Cammy Murray who scampered in for a try in the left corner. At 32 minutes Ruthven knocked on in his own in-goal area with John Cox reaching the ball first to touch down for the Boroughmuir "bonus point" try converted by O'Reilly.
