Biggar 21 Melrose 22

This BT Premiership, the first of 2006, was played on a bitterly cold afternoon. Quintin Sanft opened the scoring, after three minutes, with a penalty and Mark Robertson replies with a try seven minutes later. Scott Ruthven kicked a brace of penalties at 15 & 23 minutes to extend the Melrose lead, but this lead was reigned in by Sanft who kicked his second penalty at 28 minutes and scored a try just on half time to level the scores.
Half time - Biggar 11 Melrose 11.
Ten minutes into the second half Ruthven kicked his third penalty to return the lead to Melrose, but the lead changed hands again five minutes later when Andy Dunlop scored a try converted by Sanft. Melrose went back into the lead three minutes later with Dave Whiteford's try, but, nine minutes from the end Sanft's third penalty gave the lead back to Biggar. Then, deep into "injury time" Ruthven slotted a drop goal to give Melrose only their second away win of the campaign by a single point.
Biggar 21 Melrose 22.
