Melrose 29 Currie 16

This BT Premiership match was played on a beautiful, but bitterly cold afternoon on a pitch which, once again, thanks to Gordon Barkham's efforts, had not suffered the ravages of frost. First blood went to Currie with a Don Raw penalty after three minutes. On the quarter hour David Whiteford broke down the right wing, the ball then being spun across the pitch to be collected by the back row backing up for Jamie Murray to cross for a try in the Town Corner. At 25 & 27 minutes Scott Ruthven and Raw swapped penalties. A turnover, at 29 minutes, saw a break out by the Melrose back row with the ball crossing the pitch for James King to score a try in the Policeman's Corner, converted by Ruthven. Just before the break Ross Weston completed a rolling maul with a try.
