This BT Premiership match was played on a cold, wet and blustery afternoon. Melrose built up a six point lead with two Scott Ruthven penalties at 12 & 20 minutes, but Currie fought back, Michael Kerr replying with penalties at 25 & 31 minutes to make honours even at the break.

Kerr kicked another penalty at 45 minutes, but, despite a sustained period of Currie pressure, Melrose broke out. This move ended with Karne Kaufana, despite the close attention of several Currie players, crashing over for a try at 50 minutes with Ruthven adding the conversion points. Ruthven kicked his third penalty after 70 minutes to conclude the scoring, thereafter the Melrose defence held tight to secure victory.
