Currie 44 Melrose 15

This BT Cup Quarter Final match was played on a bright afternoon, but with a strong cold wind blowing the length of the pitch. Playing with the wind Melrose started brightly with Karne Kaufana breaking the Currie defence after 10 minutes and off-loading to centre Jamie Murray who scored a try between the posts, James King converting. Seven minutes later David Officer followed up a chip kick ahead to score a try in the corner. Geoff Caldwell, now playing for Currie, took advantage of slack Melrose defence, at 26 minutes, to score a try converted by Donovan Raw, giving Currie the lead which they never relinquished. Three minutes later Chris Browne scored a try in the corner and, after a further three minutes, from turn-over ball, Gavin Scott drove over for a try.
Half time - Currie 22 Melrose 7.
Seven minutes into the second half King reduced the leeway, but Raw replied with a similar award at 53 minutes. At 61 minutes Ben Cairns intercepted a Melrose attacking pass and ran all of 65 metres to score a try between the posts, Raw converting. Seven minutes later Ben Miller collected a throw to the front of the lineout and powered over for a try. At 72 minutes Browne split the Melrose defence to score his second try, converted by Andy Muir. Kaufana ended the scoring at 75 minutes with a try.
