This "Southern Reporter" Border League fixture saw Melrose playing a quick expansive game. Mark Robertson opened the scoring with a try converted by Steven Broom, and during the the course of the first half Melrose achieved the "bonus point" following a second try by Robertson and tries by Jamie (centre) Murray and Karne Kaufana.

Berwick were more aggressive at the start of the second half and were rewarded with a try scored by Matthew McCreath. Melrose thenstepped up a gear and increased their lead with tries scored by Broom, converted by Barry Watson, Jamie (no.8) Murray and Steven Renton.
