Hawick 17 Melrose 27

The penultimate Premier 1 match of the season was a "local derby" played on a bright, but cold afternoon. Scott Wight opened the scoring with a penalty after seven minutes. At 24 minutes Mark Robertson hacked on a cross kick winning the race to touch down for a try converted by Wight. Hawick answered back with a Rory Hutton penalty three minutes later, but four minutes after that Wight gave a perfect pass to Graeme Dodds who scored the first of his two tries, Wight converting. Quick hands led to Hutton crossing for a try just before the break.
Half time - Hawick 8 Melrose 17
Early in the second half Hutton reduced the leeway kicking his second penalty. Five minutes later a passing movement started within the Melrose 22 and ended with Dodds scoring his second try, Wight, again, converting. Graham Hogg kept the scoreboard ticking over with penalties at 53 & 64 minutes and the scoring ended, six minutes from no-side, with Wight's second penalty which was retribution for a dangerous and late tackle which saw Craig Edwards end up in hospital.
