This Premier 1 match was played in rain and wind, but it only took the home team two minutes to notch up the first score, Nick Lavelle crossing for a try. Ben Colley added a penalty at 12 minutes and Lavelle scored his second try four minutes later. Scott Wight put Melrose on the scoresheet at 28 minutes kicking a penalty, but Colley cancelled this out with a similar award two minutes later. A.J.McFarlane wriggled over for a try at 35 minutes. Colley converted then adding a penalty just at the break.

Two minutes into the second half Callum Anderson danced over for a try converted by Wight. Despite the efforts of both teams there was no more scoring for the next 35 minutes when Paul Burke caught and drove over for a try converted by Colley, then, just on time, Pat Mac Arthur scored an identical try, again converted by Colley, to complete the scoring.
