This Premier 1 match was played in fine conditions on a beautiful afternoon. The first score came after 22 minutes when Ally Warnock crossed for a try which he, himself, converted. He added to Melrose misery five minutes later when he kicked a penalty, but Scott Wight put Melrose on the scoreboard with a similar award two minutes later. Warnock kicked a further penalty at 35 minutes and, just on the break, Craig Edwards fed Callum Anderson who crossed for a try wide out on the left.

Five minutes into the second half Andy MacMahon scored a try converted by Warnock and Warnock kicked another penalty at 50 minutes. Wayne Mitchell, in characteristic fashion, drove over for a try at 64 minutes to end the Melrose scoring. Melrose strove to reduce the deficit, but it was Currie who ended the match on a high, scoring three tries in the last ten minutes. The first was scored by MacMahon with ten minutes to go then Chris Browne (75 minutes) and Ross Weston (80 minutes) scored tries, both converted by Warnock.
