Kelso 7 Melrose 11

This "Southern Reporter" Border League clash was played under floodlights on an evening with a fine drizzle and a strong wind. Kelso had the advantage of this wind in the first half, but it was an injury ravaged Melrose who eventually took the lead through an Andrew Lawrie try after 33 minutes. Kelso replied five minutes later when Graeme Cowe crossed for a try with Kevin Utterson's conversion giving Kelso the lead.

The second half was a dour affair with Kelso doing all the pressing. Melrose did, however, manage two penalties, courtesy of the boot of Scott Wight, to take the points, but the stars of the evening were the Melrose defenders.
