Dundee HSFP 13 Melrose 46

The kick off for this SHE Premier 1 match was delayed for 15 minutes, the Melrose arrival in Dundee having been delayed because of roadworks on the Forth Road Bridge. Dundee were lively in the opening minutes, but at 11 minutes the Melrose forwards drove up field off-loading the ball to Scott Wight who scored and converted a try. Two minutes later Barry Jones put the home team on the scoreboard with a penalty. Dundee were predominant for the next spell, but a penalty for Melrose, at 30 minutes, led to a lineout close to the goal line. Wayne Mitchell burrowed over from the subsequent maul for his first try. Again Dundee responded with a Jones penalty (35 minutes), and continued to press, but a turnover by Mitchell close to the Melrose line, at 39 minutes, ended up with Callum Anderson scoring a long range try converted by Wight.

In the second half Melrose had thrown off their travel weariness, but it was at 50 minutes, and with John Dalziel in the "sin bin", that Wight kicked a penalty.. With Dalziel restored and a Dundee player now in the "bin" Mitchell drove over for his second, and the Melrose "bonus point" try, at 59 minutes, Wight again converting. As the last quarter started Wight achieved his "full house" of scores by dropping a goal. With six minutes remaining Mark Robertson demonstrated his skills ending up with a try converted by Wight. Two minutes later the tables were turned with Cammy Ferguson scoring a try, converted by Jones, at the other end.. But Melrose were not finished! Just on "no-side" Robertson danced over for his second try, Wight completing the scoring with the conversion.
