Melrose 21 Tynedale 15

For the second week in succession Melrose took on, and defeated, English opposition, this time the opposition being the amateur team from Tynedale. The match was played on a beautiful Greenyards pitch on an overcast afternoon which turned to sunshine in the second half. There was no scoring in the first quarter of an hour, but at 16 minutes the visitors spread the ball wide with Jack Anderson scoring a try in the Town Corner. With the penalty being advanced into the Melrose 22 for indiscipline Phil Belgium added three more points for Tynedale on the 20 minute mark. With 8 minutes of the half remaining Rob McDermitt intercepted a Melrose pass on the 22 and scampered threequarters of the length of the pitch for a try converted by Belgium.
Half time - Melrose 0 Tynedale 15.
Three minutes into the second half Scott Wight scrambled over for a try which he, himself, converted. Twenty five minutes elapsed before the next score when Richard Higgins was driven over from a rolling maul to score try converted by Scott Ruthven. With four minutes of the match remaining Graeme Dodds burst through the middle to score a try which Ruthven converted.
