With landlords, George Watson's College, demanding the use of Myreside for school's summer sports activities Watsonians had to cede home advantage for this SHE Cup semi-final which was played at nearby Meggatland. Watsonians chose to play into the strong and bitterly cold wind in the first half. Nine minutes into the match hooker Wayne Mitchell, lurking amongst his threequarters, put in a grubber kick for Callum Anderson to latch on to and race in for a try. Scott Wight, whose conversion attempt bounced back off the post, was next on the scoreboard with a penalty at 12 minutes. At 25 minutes David Whiteford received a short pass from Wight, then, just short of the line, off-loaded to John Dalziel who scored a try, Wight converting. The ball which Bill Wallace won at a lineout, at 36 minutes, was spun quickly out to Jordan Macey who floated through the gaps in the Watsonian defence to score a try. Wight and Andrew Skeen both kicked penalties to end the first half scoring.

Melrose defence was the dominant feature of the second half, Watsonians failing to make the required headway with wind advantage, However, at 64 minutes, Skeen managed to bamboozle the Melrose defence to dot down for a try which he, himself, converted. Thus ended the scoring.
