This B.S.P.C. Border League match was played on a beautiful evening, but with the floodlights on from the start. Within five minutes Melrose lost captain Jamie Murray and prop Nick Beavon to injuries. Following a spell of Jed pressure on the Melrose line Robert Ferguson dived into the right corner on the stand side, at 10 minutes, for a try converted by Seb Trotter. At 23 minutes Jed won the ball from a lineout after a penalty and Gary Hill barged through the Melrose defence for a try to the left of the posts, Trotter converting. Five minutes later the Melrose threequarters raced up the far touchline and chipped the ball over the line, Callum Anderson winning the race for the touch down. Five minutes short of the interval Trotter increased the Jed lead with a penalty.

It was 21 minutes into the second half before the scoreboard saw any more action. Slick passing by the Melrose threequarters ended with Scott Wight racing in for a try in the left corner. Although the Melrose players now became more lively they were unable to increase their tally, consequently ending their interest in this season's Border League.
