Edinburgh Accies 16 Melrose 8

Playing against a strong wind from the kick off Melrose started this SHE Premier 1 match strongly, but were unable to convert pressure into points. Accies then started to make use of the wind and, at 23 minutes, Gavin Douglas opened the scoring with a penalty. Five minutes later Douglas found himself on the end of a passing movement to score a try in the corner. Although the Melrose side tried hard they could not reduce the deficit before the interval.

Three minutes into the second half Accies took a quick tap penalty on the halfway line. The ball was shipped wide to Tom Stuart who darted down the line, outstripping the Melrose defence, to score a try in the corner. Scott Wight eventually put Melrose on the scoresheet with a penalty three minutes later, but this was nullified by Douglas' second penalty at 57 minutes. At 73 minutes John Dalziel barged over for a try, but this proved to be too little too late as the Melrose challenge fizzled out - not even a "losing" bonus point this week!
