Three minutes into this SHE Premier 1 match, played in gusty conditions, David Whiteford dived over for a try converted by Scott Wight. At 9 & 17 minutes Ally Warnock and Wight traded penalties. Currie hit back with a try by Johnny Smith at 20 minutes and then took the lead at 25 minutes when Warnock converted Andrew Binkos' try. Melrose levelled the score at 34 minutes with a Callum Anderson try, and then regained the lead, just on half time when John Dalziel crashed over for a try.

At 53 & 66 minutes Graham Whyte scored a brace of tries, the second of which, the Currie bonus point try, being converted by Warnock to give the visitors a seven point lead. Wight (75 mins.) and Warnock (76 mins.) again traded penalties before Richard Higgins, just on no-side scored a pushover bonus point try for Melrose. Unfortunately, Wight's attempted conversion drifted wide in the wind denying Melrose a draw.
