Melrose 9 Currie 23

The spectators had hardly taken their seats for this BT Scotland Premiership match when, at 30 seconds, Mike Duncan opened the scoring with his first penalty for Currie. Ten minues later Duncan Wilson rumbled over from 10 metres to increase the Currie lead with a try in the right hand corner. Scott Ruthven's penalty at 14 minutes put Melrose, at last, on the scoresheet. After sustained Melrose pressure a loose kick out of defence, by Currie, led to a 5m scrum, in their favour, leading to Steve McCashin scoring a try under the posts, converted by Duncan at 20 minutes. S.Ruthven then kicked two more penalties to make the interval score Melrose 9 Currie 15.
Melrose had the majority of pressure during the second half, but the Currie defence held out. Duncan kicked his second penalty at 23 minutes and then, at 37 minutes, again following a kick and chase out of defence, after sustained Melrose pressure, Andy Longley's try in the Policeman's corner put the "icing on the cake" for Currie.
