Melrose 21 Gala 34

The first half of this BT Scotland Premiership match was a tense affair with the scoring limited to 2 successful penalties out of 3 for Callum Macrae of Melrose and 4 out of 4 for Gavin Dalgleish of Gala, and a severe cut to Robbie Brown's left knee requiring his replacement by Scott Aitken.
Half time Melrose 6 - Gala 12.
Four minutes into the second half David Gray sliced through the Melrose defence for a try converted by Dalgleish. Macrae kicked a penalty before his namesake, Callum McRae, scored a try, again converted by Dalgleish. Three minutes later, at 19 minutes, Gray scored his second try. On the half hour Jamie Blackwood scored a fine try for Melrose. For a short period Melrose were in the ascendency, at last, with James Henderson barging over for a try converted by Macrae. The scoring finished, however, with a Dalgleish penalty at no-side.
