Keep me posted

There is always a nervous tension to the start of the season as a new squad comes together and looks to find its feet. The signs were promising from the games against Jed and Peebles, but they were for Hawick in their fixtures too so very glad to have come away with the win as described in the Rugby Blog.
This week is a very busy one at the club, as it sees Glasgow Hawks come down to The Greenyards - both first and second XVs, the Wasps welcome Hawick PSA and the Ladies have a major challenge on Sunday with Hillhead/Jordanhill coming down.
I am afraid I am going to be away this week, but I’m sure Douglas Hardie will make everyone very welcome on Saturday as the lunches start again from the newly refurbished kitchen. We have received a great contribution towards the kitchen from the supporters club, so we have asked Mrs June Frame to officially “cut the ribbon”. The draw for player sponsorship follows the game, so if you would like to have a more personal involvement with the squad, let the supporters club know and you could sponsor one or more of the players.
There’s the Scotland v France game to follow, although I was sorry to see Ruaridh didn’t make the cut for the world cup squad despite not having any time at stand-off. I guess it was too much to hope with his injury lay-off, but international selection is an unpredictable sport so lets see what happens for him next.
I’ll have to find a wifi signal to follow the games on Twitter - @MelroseRugby #makeithappen #blackandyellow and I wish all the teams the very best this weekend.
