First of all, I would like to make special mention of our Seven drawn predominantly from the Melrose Storm squad. Whilst the first team were battling away in the RBS Cup and ensuring RBS Premiership league respectability they took part in the Gala, Hawick and Berwick Tournaments and due to their efforts at Berwick, where they reached the final, were instrumental in paving the way for our gaining the DS Dalgleish & Son Kings of the Sevens title. They also won the three tournaments for 2^nd teams – victorious at The John Laing at Kelso, St Boswells 7s and Walkerburn. The side, led by Dougie Dodds have done the club proud.

At Jed we came second best to the hosts in the final and the home side gave long time player Ross Goodfellow a magnificent retirement present as he now calls a close to his playing career. In the final, Jed played as though their lives depended on winning and although a couple of decisions didn’t go our way we were unable to overhaul the men in blue. However, in the semi finals we beat Gala and Jed did us a huge favour by doggedly beating Watsonians and thus making it certain that the DS Dalgleish & Son Kings of the Sevens Trophy would be won by Melrose for a third time in four years.

As the season is now over for the players and they take a well earned break, they are already planning with the coaches for summer activities to help with the coming season. Time to reflect that we as administrators have not succeeded in shortening the season. The players who play sevens have had a long and tiring season.

As my period of Presidency draws to a close, I can be happy and proud of having been entrusted with the position for two years. An RBS Premiership title and a DS Dalgleish & Son Kings of the Sevens trophy along with all the other highs and achievements to remember.
